Recipe – Tamarind Chutney

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Serves: 8


  • Tamarind: 1 cup
  • Oil: ½ Tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds: ½ Teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar or Jaggery (Gur): 1 cup
  • Black Salt: 1 Teaspoon
  • Chat Masala or Garam Masala Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Water: 3 cups


  • Deseed Tamarind and soak it in water for 10 minutes
  • Heat Oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and when it changes color, add tamarind with water, salt, red chili powder, chat masala. Boil it for 10 minutes.
  • Add sugar or jaggery, boil again for 10 minutes.
  • Let it cool and preserve it in an air-tight container.
