Recipe – Homemade Potato chips / Baked Potato Chips / Potato wafers

Prep Time: 1 Hour

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes: 4 medium sized round potatoes
  • Water: As required
  • Vinegar: 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper powder: ¼ teaspoon
  • Red chili powder: ¼ Teaspoon
  • Oil: 2 tablespoons for baking

Method:

Traditional method

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into 1/8-inch round slices or very thin slices using a knife or slicer.
  • Soak the slices in cold water and vinegar for 30 minutes.
  • Drain the water.
  • Boil water in a pan.
  • Add the slices and boil for 7-8 minutes.
  • Drain the water.
  • Separate the slices from each other and spread them on a cotton cloth or plastic.
  • Let the dry in sunlight on room for 1 day or until complete dry.
  • Store the chips in an air tight container.
  • when needed, deep fry them and sprinkle salt, black pepper powder and red chili powder and serve.

Baking method

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into 1/8-inch round slices or very thin slices using a knife or slicer.
  • Soak the slices in cold water and vinegar for 30 minutes.
  • Drain the water.
  • Mix salt, oil, black pepper powder and red chili powder with the slices and toss well.
  • Separate the slices from each other and line them on a baking sheet over a baking tray.
  • Preheat the oven to 400-degree F and bake them for 10 minutes.
  • Flip the sides and bake again for 7-8 minutes.
  • Depending on the potato quality, the baking time varies, so keep eye on the potato slices while baking and when it turns light golden brown, take them out.
  • Serve hot or let it cool and store in container.
