Recipe – Red Sauce Macaroni / Red Sauce Pasta


Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Serves: 4


  • Macaroni / Pasta: 2 cups
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic cloves: 5-6, finely chopped
  • Onion: 1 medium, chopped
  • Tomato: 3 medium, chopped
  • Basil leaves: 7-8, chopped
  • Tomato sauce: 2 tablespoons
  • Water: ½ cup
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon or as required
  • Parmesan Cheese: ¼ cup
  • Black Pepper Powder: ½ Teaspoon
  • Dried Oregano: ½ teaspoon
  • Red chili flakes: ¼ teaspoon


  • Boil 7-8 cups of water. Add macaroni and ½ teaspoon salt. Cook till macaroni is done. Drain excess water and keep aside.
  • Heat olive oil.
  • Saute garlic for 1 minute
  • Add onion and saute till transparent.
  • Add tomato and basil leaves. Saute till tomatoes are mushy.
  • Add ½ teaspoon salt, black pepper powder, dried oregano, red chili flakes and tomato sauce. Mix well.
  • Add water and let it boil.
  • Add cooked macaroni and parmesan cheese.
  • Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and serve hot.

Cook’s Note

  • You may add boiled vegetables with macaroni as well.
